The doctrinal statement below reflects what all members of Iron Oak believe. Our leadership and teaching ministries reflect the full doctrinal statement.
These are the foundational truths that shape everything we do at Iron Oak Church — our worship, our community, and our mission.
We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, and the supreme and final authority in doctrine and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17
We believe in one God eternally existing in three equal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each has the same nature and attributes, but is distinct in office and activity.
Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice, guaranteed by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. He is now in heaven, exalted to the right hand of God where He fulfills the ministry of intercession and advocacy.
John 1:1, 14, 18; Hebrews 1:3; 1 John 2:1–2
We believe God the Holy Spirit is a person who restrains evil, convicts men of sin, regenerates those who receive Christ as Savior, baptizes them into the Church, indwells them permanently, seals them unto the day of redemption, bestows spiritual gifts, and fills those yielded to Him.
John 16:7–11; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11, 13; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18
We believe angels are spiritual beings created as sinless personalities occupying different orders and ranks. We believe Satan, the enemy of God and His people, is the originator of sin. He was judged at the cross and ultimately will be cast into the Lake of Fire.
Hebrews 1:13–14; Isaiah 14:12–14; Revelation 20:10
We believe God created all things in heaven and earth and that they exist by His power. Man was created in the image and likeness of God but sinned, bringing physical and spiritual death to himself and his posterity.
Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16–17; Ephesians 2:1–3
We believe salvation is a sovereign gift of God received through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. Man is justified by grace through faith apart from works. All true believers, once saved, are kept secure in Christ forever.
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 1:4–5; 2:8–10; Romans 8:1, 29–30
We believe sanctification is positional, progressive and ultimate. Positionally already complete in Christ, the believer also grows progressively in grace by the power of the Spirit, and will ultimately be fully set apart when taken to be with Christ.
John 17:17; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Hebrews 10:10, 14
We believe the Church, the Body and Bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age. The local church is an assembly of professed believers voluntarily joined together for worship, study of the Word, observance of the ordinances, fellowship, and equipping for Kingdom service.
Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42–47; Matthew 28:19–20
We believe Christ instituted the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Water baptism is a public identification with Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s death, the elements being symbols of His body and blood.
Matthew 28:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
We believe in the personal, imminent coming of Christ for the Church (the rapture), followed by great tribulation, culminating in the visible and bodily Second Coming of Christ to rule the nations and establish His millennial kingdom.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Revelation 19:11–21; 20:1–6
We believe believers at death immediately pass into the presence of Christ in conscious bliss, awaiting resurrection. Unbelievers remain after death in misery until the final judgment and the Lake of Fire. All true believers will inhabit the new heavens and earth, enjoying intimacy and glory with the Lord forever.
Luke 16:19–26; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Revelation 20:11–15; 21:1–22:21
